Repeater
hello friends i am Vasu Birla and today i am starting new segment of CCNA computer networking its a Networking Devices. we will discuss every important Devices used in networks. Repeater is a first networking devices.
What is Repeater
Repeater is a device that receives signals and re-transmits by amplifying or regenerating signals. Repeater has two port one is for receive signals from previous network and second port is for retransmit signals to the next extended network.
Repeater is a device which is used to Regenerate or replicate signal (Pichhe se aa rahe signal ko regenerate karke ya amplify karke aage strong signals bhej sakte he)
Analog and digital both type of signals can be retransmitted by repeater.
Here there is difference between regeneration and amplifying. Amplification means , received signals will be amplified as it is , whether there are impurities in signals and Regeneration means repeater will remove impurities from received signals and then transmit pure and strong signals.
(Amplify aur Regeneration me ye difference he ki amplification me jo signal pichhe se aa rhe he use wese ke wese aage amplify ya send kar denga chahe wo signal pure ho ya nhi jabki Regeneration ka matlab he jo kamjor signals pichhe se aa rahe he unme se impurities ko hata kar pure and strong signals ko aage send kar denga)
Repeater works on Layer 1 (Physical Layer) of OSI model.
There two types of Repeater
Anolog Repeater
Digital Repeater
Analog Repeater does amplify signals as it is , while Digital Repeater remove impurities from received signals does reconstruct and regenerate pure signal.
Why Repeater were needed ......
Suppose there is a 10Base2 Network which is also known as Thin net. Maximum segment length of this network is 185 meter.
if we want to extend network area more then 185 meter with 10Base2 Network so we need a repeater , after 185 meter Repeater will receive signals from network 1 and regenerate signals to Network 2 so like this 185 + 185 now we have more area to cover in Network with the help or repeater.
(Mana ki 10Base2 ka ek network he jiske maximum length 185 m hoti he but yadi hume aur computers ko network me add karna he aur apna area of network ko badana hoto repeaters ka use kar sakte he jo pahle network se signals lekar aage aur 185 meter tak srong signals send kar dega aur is prakar humara area of network bad jayega)
In next time we will discuss about second network device HUBS.
