OSI Model (Open System interconnection)
Hii , i am Vasu Birla and today we discuss about OSI Model, a very popular term often used in the Networking. So What is OSI model and why it is needed
So pahle History pad lete he ,,,
History of Osi - In the 1977, ISO (International Standard Organization) made a committee for Develop a Open standard for Interconnection between the all kind of electronic devices after that Later in 1984 ISO's committee introduce a OSI model ( Open System Interconnection Model).
What does mean by OPEN - In OSI (Open system interconnection ),,, Here Open means ,, whomever follow this Model means vendors , Manufactures (IBM,apple,Microsoft, Intel) jo bhi ho ,, if they follow this model for manufacture computer systems so, Those devices, systems can communicate to each other whether that are from same vendor or from different Manufacturer . ( matlab yadi ye companies OSI ko follow karke apne systems banate he to wo aapas me internet se connect ho sakte he chahe phir wo dusri company ke kyu na ho. )
Before OSI each Company or Vendor has their own specific model but they can communicate with the same vendor's device for example IBM before OSI IBM was used to follow their own specific Networking Model so only IBM's device could communicate to each other that was a big limitation of IT world . but the Solution was found that is OSI model. But Today it is not used but Osi model is very good to understand that how Internet works.
Note - OSI model is not exist physically , It is not Hardware or Software ,, It is just protocols and Logical Model to Understand the Working of Internet.
There are 7 Layers in OSI model for Understanding the working of Networks. It is Count from bottom to Up it means Physical Layer is Layer 1 , and Application Layer is Layer 7.
We will discuss each Layer in details in next parts ,,,,, have a good time ,,,, Hare krishna ,,,

- First 3 Layer means Physical, Data link , and Network layer are known as Media Layer
- Layer 4 to Layer 7 Transpor, Session , Presentation and Application layers are known as Host Layer.
- Each Layer has their own function and Responsibility.
